Gaming Supplier Secures Landmark License in the UAE
A major gaming technology provider has been granted the first vendor license by the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). This allows the company to supply its gaming machines, technology solutions, and digital casino content to licensed operators within the country.
UAE Gaming Market Taking Shape
This development follows the awarding of the first commercial land-based casino gaming license to a resort developer for its project on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). The resort is slated to open in 2027, with projections estimating a substantial multi-billion dollar gaming market in the UAE.
“We look forward to providing premium content for players in the UAE while simultaneously encouraging responsible gameplay.”
Regulatory Framework Established
The GCGRA, established in September 2023, is responsible for overseeing gambling regulation across the Emirates. The regulator previously issued the UAE’s sole lottery license to an operator for its national lottery.
Other Operators Eyeing Opportunities
Another major resort operator has also applied for a casino license in the UAE. The operator is currently developing a resort in Dubai featuring several well-known brands. While Dubai’s stance on gaming remains unclear, there is anticipation for further announcements regarding federal mandates and oversight.
